The Shivalingam of Kailasapuram, Shree Kailaseshwara Swamy, is sanctified by an extraordinary offering of devotion. Three acts of sadhana stand behind it.
One crore Parthiva Lingams
A Parthiva Lingam is a Shivalingam shaped by hand from mruthika, sacred clay, and worshipped with devotion. Parthiva Linga pooja is one of the most ancient forms of Shiva worship, and it is said that worship offered to a lingam made with one's own hands is especially dear to Lord Shiva.
For Kailasapuram, one crore (ten million) Parthiva Lingams were made by hand and worshipped as an offering to Shree Kailaseshwara Swamy. This is why the devotion of the temple is known as Koti Lingalu.
Eleven crore Panchakshari japam
The Shiva Panchakshari, Om Namah Shivaya, is the moola mantra of Lord Shiva: five sacred syllables that hold the whole of Shiva tattva. Eleven crore japam of this mantra have been offered for Kailasapuram, filling the temple with its vibration.
Nine days of abhishekam at Kashi
Kashi, on the banks of the Ganga, is the eternal city of Lord Shiva. It was during a nine-day pooja at Kashi that Lord Shiva called Guruji, in a dream, to revive the ancient temple at Dommata and Gajjulapally. Nine days of abhishekam in the holy Kashi Kshetram are part of the sanctity of Shree Kailaseshwara Swamy.
